How to Peel Green Banana’s with EASE!!!

Hi Carib food lovers,
Today I was at the market doing my usual rounds of Caribbean food sourcing, and as I was squeezing, prodding and inspecting some green bananas (Quick note: This is the way most Caribbeans inspect food before they buy it) a lady asked “How do I cook green bananas”.

So I said to her it’s simple simply peel the banana, wash it and put it in a pot of boiling water to cook.

So we ended up having this lengthy conversation (at the stall taking up space, much to the annoyance of the stall owner) about green bananas and when she first tried them, and how she heard that peeling the banana was quite a lengthy process, and that you have to get it right or it ruins the taste of the banana.

I quickly assured her that this wasn’t the case, and gave her some tips on how to do it with ease.

So because of this insightful encounter, I decided that it would be great to do a feature on (yup you’ve guessed it) how to peel a green banana…

1. Cut the ends off the banana
